Our pastor is the Rev. Scott B. Hilborn. Scott has been serving our congregation since 1999. He is a 1984 graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, Massachusetts. He and his wife Anne have been married since 1981 and have two adult children, Katie and Nathan.
In addition to pastoring our congregation, Scott is also a full-time math teacher at Butler High School in Matthews. He stays busy but firmly believes he is called to both ministries.
Scott is originally from Columbia, SC and graduated from Clemson University in 1977. For fun he enjoys backpacking, reading, and working out. And he enjoys watching the Carolina Panthers play, at least when they are winning!
This is what Scott considers most important: “Our job as a congregation is to bring the gospel to our community. But I firmly believe my top priority as pastor is not church growth, nor managing the organization, but rather the “care of souls” as Scripture describes in Hebrews 13:17. The spiritual strengthening and shepherding of the people of our congregation in their life with Jesus Christ is my first priority.”
